DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehab centers are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehab due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could possibly be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
