DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be required to go to treatment either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while under the influence down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
