DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab programs are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be required to go to treatment either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug abuse when they drive while drunk or high down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
