Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any sort of alcohol and drug rehab program due to alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This will happen for example if someone is convicted of drunk driving or DWI, and for any other kind of drug related criminal offense that has led the judge to think the individual has any sort of substance abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol rehab program as a criminal justice client, however, if this approach is ordered through the court it's strongly advised that the individual try everything they're able to to get the most from this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences can be completely eradicated or lessened when the individual succeeds in rehab and finishes the drug and alcohol rehab program that is ordered for them. First-time offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients that experience rehab instead of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to jail time or receive other penalties. In the end, it saves a legal court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients receive effective rehab.
