DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug treatment centers are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high down the road. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
