Criminal justice clients are those who are in any kind of alcohol and drug treatment center as a result of a drug or alcohol related offense. This will occur for instance if someone else is convicted of driving under the influence or DWI, or for any other type of drug related offense which has led the judge to believe the individual has any kind of substance abuse issue. Not every person has the option of taking part in a drug rehabilitation program as a criminal justice client, but if this approach is ordered by the court it is strongly advised that the individual do everything they can to take full advantage of this chance. In many cases, other penalties and consequences may be completely eliminated or lessened when the individual does well in rehab and completes the alcohol and drug rehabilitation center which has been ordered for them. First time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients who take part in rehabilitation in lieu of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to prison time or receive other penalties. In the end, it saves a legal court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients obtain powerful rehab.
