DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehab programs are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could be required to go to rehab either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while drunk or high in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
