DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug treatment facilities are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug abuse when they drive while intoxicated in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
