DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug treatment centers are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
