Criminal justice clients are those who are in any kind of drug and alcohol rehabilitation center on account of a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This will occur for instance when someone is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, or for any other type of drug related criminal offense that has led the court to believe that the individual has any sort of drug or alcohol use issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol rehab center as a criminal justice client, however, if this approach is ordered from the court it's strongly advised that the individual do everything they're able to to benefit from this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences could be completely eradicated or lessened if the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and finishes the alcohol and drug rehabilitation program that is ordered for them. New offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients who experience treatment in lieu of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than people who find themselves ordered to incarceration or receive other penalties. In the long run, it saves a legal court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients receive effective rehab.
