DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug rehab due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
