Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any kind of alcohol and drug treatment program on account of a drug or alcohol related offense. This can occur for example if a person is convicted of driving under the influence or DWI, or for any other type of drug related crime that has led a legal court to believe that the individual has any kind of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everybody has the option of taking part in an alcohol and drug rehab facility as a criminal justice client, but when this approach is ordered from the court it is wise that the individual do everything they can to get the most from this opportunity. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences may be entirely eradicated or lessened in the event the individual does well in rehab and completes the drug treatment program that is ordered for them. First time offenders are the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients who do experience rehab in lieu of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to prison time or receive other penalties. In the long run, it saves the court system both money and time when criminal justice clients receive effective rehab.
