Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any sort of drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility as a result of alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This can occur for instance if someone is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related criminal offense which has led the judge to believe the individual has any type of drug abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug rehab program as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered by the judge it is strongly advised that the individual do everything they're able to to make the most of this opportunity. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences might be entirely eliminated or lessened in the event the individual does well in treatment and finishes the drug rehabilitation program which was ordered for them. First time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients who do experience rehab in place of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to incarceration or receive other penalties. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients obtain effective treatment.
