DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehab facilities are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
