DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug treatment facilities are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug treatment as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be ordered to treatment either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high later on. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
