DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug treatment facilities are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse whenever they drive while under the influence down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
