DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug rehab centers are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug rehab due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while drunk or high down the road. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
