DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are either there on their own accord, but generally in drug rehab due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could possibly be ordered to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
