DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug rehab programs are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
