DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of staying out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse should they drive while intoxicated down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
