DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol treatment centers are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug treatment due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be ordered to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while intoxicated down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
