DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are generally there on their own accord, but generally in drug rehabilitation due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of staying out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
