DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are generally there by their own choice, but generally in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse if they drive while under the influence in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
