DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol treatment centers are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while intoxicated down the road. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
