DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehabilitation centers are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could possibly be ordered to rehab either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of staying out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their substance abuse if they drive while intoxicated later on. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
