Criminal justice clients are people who are in any sort of alcohol and drug rehabilitation program due to a drug or alcohol related offense. This can occur for example if someone else is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, or any other kind of drug related offense that has led the court to think the individual has any kind of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol rehab facility as a criminal justice client, but when this option is ordered by the judge it's strongly advised that the individual do everything they can to take full advantage of this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences could be totally eliminated or lessened when the individual does well in rehab and completes the drug treatment program which was ordered for them. First time offenders are the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients who experience rehab in place of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to time in jail or receive other penalties. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive powerful rehabilitation.
