DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehabilitation programs are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could possibly be required to go to treatment either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while under the influence in the future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
