DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while drunk or high in the future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
