DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse should they drive while intoxicated in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
