DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while under the influence in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
