Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any sort of drug and alcohol treatment facility as a result of alcohol or drug related crime. This will happen for example if someone else is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, and for any other type of drug related offense which has led the court to believe that the individual has any kind of substance abuse issue. Not everybody has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol rehab program as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered by the court it is strongly advised that the individual do everything they can to benefit from this chance. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences may be totally eliminated or lessened in the event the individual does well in treatment and completes the drug and alcohol rehabilitation program that has been ordered for them. New offenders will be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients that do take part in treatment in place of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to jail time or receive other penalties. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients obtain effective treatment.
