DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs are generally there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to treatment either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
