DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol rehab facilities are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while intoxicated in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
