DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but usually in alcohol and drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their substance abuse when they drive while under the influence down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
