DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug treatment facilities are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could possibly be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that people who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
