DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug rehab as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be ordered to treatment either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while drunk or high later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
