DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug rehab centers are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their substance abuse should they drive while drunk or high down the road. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
