DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug rehabilitation programs are generally there on their own accord, but generally in drug rehab due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be required to go to treatment either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug abuse when they drive while intoxicated in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
