Criminal justice clients are people who are in any sort of drug treatment program because of a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This can occur for instance if a person is convicted of driving under the influence or DWI, or for any other type of drug related criminal offense which has led a legal court to believe the individual has any type of substance abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol treatment center as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered by the court it is wise that the individual do everything they can to benefit from this opportunity. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eliminated or lessened if the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and finishes the drug and alcohol rehab facility which has been ordered for them. First time offenders will be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who do experience rehab instead of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than people who find themselves ordered to prison time or similar consequences. In the long run, it saves a legal court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients obtain powerful rehabilitation.
