DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug treatment due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could possibly be ordered to rehab either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that those who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of staying out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug abuse.
