DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehab facilities are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders may be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while under the influence later on. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
