DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be ordered to treatment either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of staying out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
