DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehab centers are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high later on. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
