DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are either there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
