Criminal justice clients are those who are in any sort of alcohol and drug rehab program as a result of a drug or alcohol related crime. This can occur for instance if a person is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, or any other type of drug related criminal offense that has led a legal court to think that the individual has any sort of drug abuse issue. Not everybody has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug rehab center as a criminal justice client, however, if this approach is ordered from the judge it's strongly advised that the individual try everything they can to make the most of this chance. In many cases, other penalties and consequences could be completely eradicated or lessened if the individual succeeds in treatment and finishes the drug and alcohol rehab center that has been ordered for them. First time offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients that do take part in treatment in lieu of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than people who find themselves ordered to prison time or receive other penalties. Ultimately, it saves a legal court system both money and time when criminal justice clients obtain effective rehab.
