DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug rehab programs are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their substance abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
