DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehabilitation centers are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be required to go to rehab either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while intoxicated later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
