DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol rehab centers are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be ordered to rehab either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which set off their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while under the influence down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
