DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug treatment centers are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be required to go to treatment either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
