DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could be ordered to treatment either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse if they drive while drunk or high in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
